Virtual GAINS Clinical Trials Forum IV, on Monday, January 24, 2022 from 8-10 am ET. A zoom invitation will follow.
We would like to focus on clinical trials that are preferably multinational; investigator-initiated/conducted; phase 2b/3; with widely applicable interventions relevant to low or middle income countries as well; where some funding is already secured or main funding body clearly defined. We are also happy to provide scientific input on trials that have yet to be funded but are still in the concept phase.
Call for Presenters!
We plan to discuss 3-4 trials at each Forum. In an effort to broaden the opportunity we ask each of you to probe your networks and reach out to PIs who need assistance with or are planning a stroke clinical trial that may benefit from this Forum. This is first come, first served, so please contact us early.
The goal(s) of presenting the trial design at this Forum for the PI could be:
To identify countries/networks that are a good fit to participate in the proposed trial. The trial may require additional country participation to achieve patient recruitment in expected timeframe.
To provide the PI with feedback regarding the trial design/feasibility that may aid the PI in refining the protocol.
To Identify similar/overlapping trials thus insuring cooperation/compatibility of design to facilitate pooling of data later.
If requested, to provide the PI seeking funding with a GAINS endorsement letter outlining that the trial was reviewed by GAINS membership and had support of group. If trial is successful, the expected impact on stroke care/services/outcomes globally could be mentioned in such a letter.
If such a trial idea is identified within your individual networks please ask the PI (or their designate) if they would be willing to present to the group via Zoom on January 24, 2022 from 8:00 am – 10:00 am ET.
Please email Andrew Demchuk (ademchuk@ucalgary.ca) or Rose Beckmann (beckmare@ucmail.uc.edu) before January 1, 2022, with title of the trial design and PI contact info.
We anticipate a short 5-10 minute presentation by each PI with 10-15 minute discussion and 1-2 minute sum up/next steps.
Hopefully we can help some additional clinical trials succeed with this new initiative and expand on it at future international stroke conferences if deemed helpful.
Look for a Zoom invitation soon.
Best,
Andrew and Joe on behalf of the GAINS Executive Committee
